Our Clients Say

How has being a member of Total Fitness MK helped you in achieving your goals?
"It has been the key to achieving my goals. The range of classes, the instructors and the ability to try new things in a supportive environment has meant I have not only achieved my original goals but built new ones too."

Which classes or training sessions have you enjoyed the most and why?
"Saturday morning double sessions are my favourite, 30 minutes of cardio followed by a body assault session which is always varied and fun! Barbell Pump and Pilates are also great."

How do you feel the small group class environment has impacted your fitness journey?
The small group classes are great. Having a session planned out for us means you can focus on the activities rather than thinking about what is next. The small classes mean the instructors have time to check form and to push you (and spot you!) onto the next step.

What advice would you give to someone considering joining Total Fitness MK?
Do it! I have never felt intimidated at Total Fitness MK or made to feel like my fitness level was embarrassing or that I wouldn’t be able to achieve something whether that took a week or a month. Those were the things I was worried about when I first joined but all the members are supportive and cheer you on as you try and succeed at new things. There are members who I consistently look up to for a variety of reasons and they keep me motivated at each session.

Do you feel supported by the community and the trainers and the community? Can you give an example?
Absolutely, the support from both the community and the trainers is so good. Andy and Michelle are the right balance of support and push that I feel confident to try new things. They believe in your ability even when you don’t. I also remember being cheered on by members when I first mastered a box jump and being supported to flip the bigger tire!

Would you recommend Total Fitness MK to others and if so, why?
Yes absolutely, there are loads of different classes which means you can find something to help you achieve your specific goals or attend as many as you want to help you build put what you want. Andy and Michelle are full of knowledge and expertise and are committed to supporting you as you work. The community are also great, supportive and motivating.

How as the 3D body scanning, nutritional advice or discounted massage treatments enhanced your experience?
The 3D body scanning is essential for me, being able to see the changes you are making to your body in front of you is massively motivational. The nutritional advice is great and while I haven’t yet had a massage, I have had several small stretches/massages during classes if I have ever felt any potential niggle whilst exercising. These have always resolved whatever the issue was and it is a real comfort knowing your instructors have that level of skill and knowledge while they are watching over your classes.

What first brought you to Total Fitness MK?
My previous gym was a great starting point for my fitness journey, but I’d reached the stage where I wanted to progress to the next level, with more experienced trainers and like-minded people.

What are your main goals with training?
My initial goals were to regain full strength in my hip following surgery and to regain confidence in my body’s ability to get stronger, I also wanted to improve my stamina.
My goals now are to continue to improve my stamina and strength and continue to increase the weights I lift. My aim is to go into my 6th decade, early next year, as fit and as strong as I can be.

What do you enjoy most about training here?
Being instructed by very experienced trainers. The community-feel when you’re training and the lack of judgement, everyone is on their own journey. Last, but not least, the mix of classes.

What’s been your biggest achievement or success since joining?
I’m greedy, there are three:
a. Doubling the weight I leg press
b. Being able to farmer’s carry my body weight
c. Having toned arms and shoulder I feel proud of. I’m confidently wearing sleeveless tops for the first time in years.

What keeps you motivated on the tough days?
Focussing on my goals. You can always find an excuse not to do something, but I find focussing on my goals gives me a reason to go to the gym.

What do you like most about the coaching or programming?
I find the coaching very supportive and as the groups are small, the coaches know every individual person’s needs. I love the little challenges that are thrown in randomly and the sense of humour that goes with it.

How does training here differ from anywhere else you’ve trained before?
My previous gym didn’t have any machines, here there’s a good mix of free weights and machines. I like that the training is aimed at pushing everyone to achieve their goals rather than dropping tough exercises to please the least motivated.

Tell us a bit about your life outside the gym – work, hobbies, family?
I work full time for a local accountancy firm, leading their marketing function. When I’m not working, I love spending time with my husband, three grown up children, my little grandson and not to forget, our two dogs. I enjoy walking, going to concerts, the theatre and eating out.

How has being a member at Total Fitness MK impacted your life outside the gym?
I feel fitter, healthier and stronger than I’ve ever felt and have boundless energy.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining?
Do it. It’s tough, but seeing and feeling the results makes all the effort worth it. And the sense of achievement is amazing!
